Our Mission
The
Mission of OneChurch is to facilitate a strong and unified Christian community for the purpose of connecting those with spiritual, emotional, physical, and economic needs with the resources of The Church.
Our Vision is for the one Body of Christ to develop and implement collaborative models of community ministry. Ideally, all the various forms The Church takes in a community will work together to develop ministry actions in their neighborhoods.
Our Objective is community transformation by unifying and mobilizing the Christian community into effective community action.
Our Strategy is to be a catalyst that makes connections with the Kingdom of God activities that are already present in our communities. We do this by Listening to, Developing Partnerships with, and Engaging our neighbors in our communities.
This Strategy Begins with Listening
Prayer - We know that we can do nothing for God without being in relationship with God. We encourage people to abide in Jesus for his guidance and power. “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.” John 15:4
Active Listening - We acknowledge the calling and giftedness of every individual. We encourage people to share their dreams and to listen to the dreams of others. We share stories of hope through our web site. “The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.” 1 Corinthians 12:12-13
It Grows Through Partnership
Churches of the City - We work to build relational bridges and trust among Christians in a city. We desire to bring together those of similar calling and interest so they might spur one another on to good deeds. "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John 17:20-21
Community and City Initiatives - We seek to identify key conversations and initiatives happening community and city wide. We want to help people to engage in strategic dialogue as community stakeholders. “While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was greatly distressed to see that the city was full of idols. So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Greeks, as well as in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there.” Acts 17:16-17
It Is Realized Through Commitment
Neighbors Working Together - We help discover and realize the hopes and dreams of our neighbors. We are committed to the transformation of neighborhoods using existing assets. “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.” 1 Corinthians 12:7
Local Causes Supported - We inform people at the local level of Kingdom causes and seek to support and partner with these causes. “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:10
